Job Summary

The Associate Manager Stationery Brand North Africa plays a significant role in developing and implementing Stationery plans that incorporate all facets of the marketing mix to ensure that BIC’s annual sales’ volume and profit goals are achieved:

  • Monitors Stationery sales volumes, market conditions, market share trends and competitive data
  • Recommends, develops, and implements ATL and end-consumer BTL activities once validated to meet BIC’s Stationery objectives in North Africa, within approved annual budget and in compliance with BIC internal processes.
  • Analyzes and compares results of defined Stationery objectives to ensure the effectiveness and profitability of marketing initiatives.

Main Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Recommends, develops, and implements consistent Annual Marketing Plans to build and grow BIC Stationery category in North Africa.
  • Manages the marketing activities for BIC Stationery, which also imply directing external agencies in the creation and execution of the initiatives, follow up and post-evaluation.
  • Develops and analyzes reports and demonstrate an understanding of the market, competitors, and target consumers.
  • Monitors brand performance and identifies key issues, trends, and opportunities to increase market share and creatively help in growing the business sales and profitability.
  • Monitors and recommends Stationery marketing budgets under his responsibility.
  • Supports the brand communication/talk in digital and PR and is the custodian of brand DNA & identity
  • Supports Line Marketing Manager by:
  • Appraising NA Marketing initiatives by communicating on them via Flash reports, Yammer, Newsletters…
  • Training BIC / Distributors teams when needed

  • Results and ROI of key Stationery marketing initiatives (ATL, Digital and Consumer Activations & Promotions)
  • Meeting deadlines / Respecting timelines of Stationery Marketing plans and their executions
  • CMI (Consumer & Market Understanding) deployment
  • Respect of the Stationery budgets
  • Continuous interaction with the Line Manager, Digital and Trade Marketing Managers, MEA Marketing team and local sales team

Candidate Profile: Qualifications / Technical Skills

R= Required D = Desired

SIMPLE CRITERIA

    • R- 5+ years of Marketing experience in FMCG company
    • R- Marketing or Engineering degree / diploma or equivalent – BAC+5
    • R- Speaks fluent English, French and Arabic
    • R- Proficient in the use of MS Office including intermediate/advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • R- Exposure to external agencies (creative, media and digital agencies, print suppliers…)
    • D- An experience / internship in advertising / communication agency or research agency is also valuable
    • D- Working previously within a North-African scope is a significant plus

      • Has a good knowledge of the media environment, including digital, defines the relevant contact points in relation to the target and plan objectives
      • Write the Stationery annual integrated communication briefs and the creative briefs
      • Evaluate the creative proposals based on briefs and be able to separate the judgment of the creative ideas from the execution. Gives structured and actionable feedback to the agency considering the briefs and the touchpoints specificities.
      • Evaluates Stationery media plans and analyses their actual performance
      • Align internal and external actors
      • Steers the production and implementation of a complete communication action throughout the contact points
    • R- Positioning & Price
      • Ensure all actions and marketing mix are consistent with BIC Stationery positioning
      • Defines the pricing of products and analyzes the potential profitability
    • R – Business steering
      • Establishes and implements Stationery strategies that develop the business in improving market share performance, brand equity, sales revenue, and gross margin
    • R- Consumer research
    • Understands Stationery research results, including Market Scanning, Qual and Quant, and translates them into actions
    • D- Innovation & roll-out
      • Identifies and recommends new business opportunities based on consumer needs, and market priorities, in relation with managed categories
      • Be the strategic partner on the innovation agenda both short and long-term that will deliver business objectives
    • D- Packaging design
      • Highlights opportunity to enhance the Stationery packaging considering the wider picture (consumer trends, regulation, competitors).
      • Recommends projects to evolve Stationery packaging designs
