Job Description

Working in Unity Business Services means that you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain new experience, and by using your excellent customer service skills you will put our customers at the heart of everything you do.

There are a number of exciting roles within our teams which have a blend of telephony and administration tasks, but all of them have one thing in common, you will be key in supporting HMRC employees.

On a daily basis our roles involve:

 

  • Using your excellent listening and communicating skills to provide an outstanding customer service, this can be via phone, email, webchat and MS Teams.
  • Processing Key Information for HMRC employees on our HR systems.
  • Working as part of a team to support your colleagues, answering HR queries, which sometimes can be complex, but you’ll have the training and support to answer these.

You’ll be part of a supportive team who pride themselves on working together to deliver an outstanding service to our customers.

Some of our roles are more telephony based than others and wanting to speak to customers on the phone is a key component to working with us, but don’t worry we’ll give you all the training and support you need to do this confidently.

Team members that are moving offices as a result of the Locations Programme will be entitled to a Moves Adjustment Payment for three years where they incur additional costs. This is calculated based on the difference between the costs of travelling to and from the new and old office, over a weekly period. Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window) , and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience.

To help you prepare, below is a rundown of what to expect during the selection process:

  • Eligibility form
  • Civil Service Judgement Test

After submission of the first stage of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Judgement Test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.

Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing date for the tests is 11:55pm on 22/12/2023. If you fail to complete the online test before the deadline your application will be withdrawn. Guidance for the test will be available when you are invited to take the test. The tests are administered online and accessed via the CS Jobs website.

As part of the application process you will be asked to complete a CV, which is for information purposes only and will not be scored.

If you are invited to an interview it will be a video interview. We will send you full instructions on how to access it, what ID you’ll need to show us and what it involves. Please read through these carefully, it will help you to be fully prepared.

After you receive your interview invite, you’ll have 7 days to complete and submit the interview. After interview, a single merit list will be created and you will only be considered for posts in locations you have expressed a preference for. Appointments will be made in strict merit order in line with the set number of roles in each location.

A reserve list may be held for a period of up to 12 months from which further appointments may be made for the same or similar roles – if this applies to you, we’ll let you know via your Civil Service Jobs account.

Existing Civil Servants and applicants from accredited NDPBs are eligible to apply, but will only be considered on loan basis (Civil Servants) or secondment (accredited NDPBs). Prior agreement to be released on a loan basis must be obtained before commencing the application process. In the case of Civil Servants, the terms of the loan will be agreed between the home and host department and the Civil Servant. This includes grade on return.
