Position Summary

In addition to coaching, mentoring, and encouraging athletes in their academic and athletic endeavors, the female athletic coach is in charge of creating the school’s athletic program for female students. The coach is also responsible for developing a successful program for intercollegiate competition.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective coaching strategies to enhance the performance of female student athletes.
• Conduct regular practice sessions, drills, and game preparations to improve individual and team skills.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline.
• Provide individualized attention to athletes, addressing their specific strengths and areas for improvement.
• Monitor and assess the physical and mental well-being of athletes, coordinating with the medical clinic as necessary.
• Collaborate with academic advisors to ensure student athletes maintain academic eligibility and progress towards graduation.
• Participate in the recruitment of prospective student athletes by scouting, attending events, and building relationships with secondary school coaches.
• Build a program for intercollegiate competition for the university.
• Foster positive relationships with alumni, fans, and the broader community through outreach programs and events.
• Represent the university and athletic program in a professional manner at public events and media engagements.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience in successful coaching and competition.
• Knowledge of and commitment to intercollegiate competition.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student athletes.
• Demonstrated commitment to the holistic development of student athletes.
