I am currently looking for a talented and experienced Art Director to join my client – an independent media organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful journalism while leading the creative vision of the organization.

The ideal candidate is proficient in Arabic and English, has proven experience in driving engagement through campaign development and management, emphasizing a broader perspective beyond just visual design, is passionate about storytelling visual/auditory communication and believes in the importance of professional, independent journalism.

Role Overview:

As the Art Director, leading a small team of creatives, you will be responsible for overseeing and elevating the visual/auditory communication of content and managing impactful campaigns.

Your creative direction will be integral in further developing the brand identity and bringing our content closer to the audience. Reporting directly to the Editor in Chief, you will collaborate with the editorial team and community managers to bring cutting-edge, creative visual/auditory solutions for our journalistic content as well as develop and implement audience-engagement campaigns.

This position requires a dynamic individual who can set the communications vision and keep it in sight while treating every piece of content and communications campaign as a creative opportunity that sets the brand apart from others.

Accountabilities:

• Develop the communication strategy of the organization, ensuring compelling and consistent brand communication across all online touch points.
• Conceptualize visual/auditory storytelling approaches that enhance the impact of our content in collaboration with the editorial team.
• Lead and inspire a small team of creatives and social media managers to produce high-quality and engaging visual/auditory executions of content.
• Develop and execute creative online communications campaigns that deliver to set communications objectives (growth, audience engagement, etc.) and that are in line with the brand’s mission, vision and positioning.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications and Skills

We understand that academic qualifications don’t always reflect talent and expertise. Therefore, we prioritize experience and skills over formal education. To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Proficient in Arabic and possessing a deep comprehension of the cultural subtleties within the Middle East region.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within a creative team and experience in journalism, media, or a related industry is considered a plus.
• A robust portfolio showcasing your creative vision, campaigns, and successful visual communication projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey creative concepts and strategies and collaborate across teams.
