About the job

The DCT is currently in the early stages of an ambitious digitisation programme, involving the scanning and archiving of large amounts of paper-only and dispersed digital reference material. The programme involves the transfer of paper files to digital media and the creation of new and enhanced records. The HER officer will be expected to play a pivotal role in this programme with responsibilities for data maintenance, development, enhancement and data entry. The HER Officer will ensure the Historic Environment Record (HER) databases, GIS datasets and supporting material are an efficient, reliable and an important, accessible resource for the work of the Historic Environment Department. The HER Officer will be also expected to report records-management system bugs and highlight potential areas for future system and workflow development.

Adding new textual and GIS records to the Abu Dhabi HER based on published and unpublished research outputs as well as targeted enhancements of existing entries.

Undertake a range of specialist clerical duties to support the work of the HER Administrator and liaise with focal points from the each sector within the HED as required.

Undertake searches of the ADHER database to collate and provide data for responses to planning requests in a timely and accurate manner.

Data research and compilation, including the migration and organisation of data across the HED shared folders.
