New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Manager of Curricular Affairs and Special Projects.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Administration, the Manager of Curricular Affairs and Special Projects plays a critical role in supporting processes and procedures in support of undergraduate and graduate course development and management, and executing large-scale academic projects as special assignments. The Manager of Curricular Affairs and Special Projects must demonstrate above all flexibility, good judgment, enthusiasm, and systems thinking in order to be successful in the role. He/she must be proactive and work well independently as well as collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to ensure successful project management.

This role serves as the divisional liaison with the Registrar’s Office, the offices of Institutional Research, Assessment and Academic Affairs and faculty on course-related matters including course preparation, scheduling, student registration, program assessments, and student data reporting. This position maintains close partnership with key stakeholders such as the Academic Resource Center, Writing Center, Hilary Ballon Center for Teaching and Excellence and the Office of Undergraduate Education.

This role manages on and off boarding for faculty, academic support, researchers, and graduate students and as such will serve as a prime conduit between the division and multiple stakeholders, ensuring adherence to university policies and procedures. It is expected that the candidate will foster a work environment of inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity.

Key Responsibilities

Manage course development and new major/minor proposals in liaison with Arts and Humanities deans, program heads, faculty, and office of the registrar
Manage process and collation of degree-granting annual program assessments and other accreditation requirements
Manage and oversee maintenance of programs’ four-year curricular plans
Support the Divisional Curriculum Committee (AHCC)
Support deans in the administration of new Masters and PhD programs
Manage syllabi development, collection, and approvals, and oversee the administration of the divisional Course Archive and Reporting System in liaison with administrative coordinators
With the approval and guidance of the deans facilitate peer teaching observations for faculty within the division
Organize and maintain confidential files for all teaching observations
Collect, organize and interpret data from single or multiple sources in support of academic planning while providing quality assurance
Routinely report and analyze data to be included as part of program assessments, faculty contract reviews, divisional letters, and presentations
Create ad-hoc reports as needed
Manage on and off boarding for faculty, academic support, graduate students, and visiting scholars, including coordinating office space allocations
Supervise the schedule, course assignments and workload of academic staff and teaching assistants to ensure curricular needs of programs are fulfilled
Supervise members of staff in support of program management
May attend leadership meetings and working group meetings and take minutes
Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree

Required Experience

Five years of experience in executive and administrative services, with a record of advancement and growth at progressively more responsible levels, preferably with an established international company, private organization, or governmental body operating in the U.A.E
Experience working with institutions of multi-national nature
Prior experience working in a university setting
Ability to Work collaboratively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including those in leadership positions
Exercise good judgment in safeguarding confidential or sensitive information
Accurately interpret department policies and procedures to provide and clarify information
Work well under pressure, multi-task and work extended hours if neede
Effectively communicate orally and in writing at all levels to deliver message to a variety of stakeholders
Develop and revise policies and procedures applicable to assigned work area
Identify problems and analyze alternatives to develop viable recommendations for projects and assignments
Independently perform detailed administrative assignments of a difficult nature with a high degree of accuracy
Read, comprehend, and interpret complex written materials
Lead others while also being a team player
Knowledge in business English, spelling, grammar and punctuation required to produce analytical and technical reports in appropriate format
Sound knowledge and ability in business correspondence and an ability to execute decisions
Crisis management techniques required to effectively manage emergency situations
Principles and practices of administration in the areas of planning and organizing programs and event
Training program development needs assessment and analysis, monitoring and evaluation methods and control systems required to establish and monitor programs

Athletics Operations, Events and External Sports Relations Manager

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Operations, Events and External Sports Relations Manager, reporting to the Director of Athletics.

The Operations, Events, and External Sports Relations Manager will report to the Associate Director of Athletics (Operations). A key function of this role is liaising and maintaining relationships with government and non-governmental entities in consultation with internal stakeholders to support the delivery of the department’s activities and the university’s academic mission.

This postholder will also be required to manage the varied ongoing facility operational and activity needs as necessary including development of master service contracts and service level agreements. The role will share responsibility for managing each of the contract accounts; which will include conducting regular meetings with service providers to determine performance, KPI’s and further life-cycling conditions. The incumbent will work closely with the Athletics Facilities Manager and NYUAD Facilities Management on facility maintenance, space enhancements and effective use of sports operating systems and software in collaboration with departmental areas and other relevant university departments.

Responsibilities of the post-holder will be to supervise the Athletics Operations, Events, and External Relations Coordinator and work together in the planning and effective delivery of athletic events and activities that comply with safety and risk management processes. This role will lead the management of all operational record keeping e.g standard operating procedures, emergency operating procedures, and risk management documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the successful and safe delivery of activities and events for the NYUAD Athletics programs as well as other internal and external events in athletic facilities
Meet the needs of stakeholder requests inclusive of project planning, strategic sourcing and equipment needs, and post event reviews as necessary
Administrative duties included but not limited to management of master service contracts and service level agreements, stakeholder engagement, risk management, use of sports facility operating systems and additional institutional software and the development of relevant operational policy and procedures in line with university policy and local, regional and global technical standards
Liaising and maintaining relationships that support the university mission and departmental activities with government and non-governmental entities including but not limited to: Department of Community Development, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, Department of Culture & Tourism, General Authority of Sport, Sports Federations & sports organizations
Supporting Athletics and Student Affairs Divisional leadership, University External Relations and our government partner to strategize in attracting global and local sporting events to NYUAD
Work collaboratively with university colleagues to navigate NYUAD departmental sport and physical activity program requirements with the needs of external or third party users to ensure the seamless delivery within all NYUAD quality and standard benchmarks
Develop, plan, instruct at least one Physical and Health Education Class per semester, and coach a university sports team
Other Contribute to the University and Student Affairs Division-wide programs, including admissions events, new student orientation and student leadership training

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelors Degree
Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or the ability to secure certifications before start of work
Sports or physical activity coaching and/ or teaching certifications

Preferred Education

An undergraduate degree in a sports related field (sports administration, sports management, recreation management, sports studies) or business management

Required Experience

3-5 years of experience in an sports operations, sports events and/or a sports facility role
Strong commitment to excellence
Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills
Possess a high level of administrative and organizational competence
Possess excellent decision-making skills
Ability to multitask and work under pressure in meeting multiple deadlines
Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
Professional proficiency in Arabic and English both written and spoken.
Thorough understanding of sports and physical activities’ rules and regulations, experience of managing sporting activities and an awareness of the current trends and best practices amongst higher education sport and recreation services.
Knowledge and use of Google Drive and Microsoft suite applications

Preferred Experience

A passion for sports
An understanding of the sporting infrastructure and governance within the UAE
Knowledge of online platforms, booking and facility management programs
