Job Advert Summary

Unitrans is looking to employ an experienced Warehousing and Distribution Manager. The role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the optimization of our distribution network and drive efficiency across all locations including standardizing warehouse and store processes, ensuring accountability for stock management, and managing a team of store controllers.

Minimum Requirements

 

• Qualification: 4 year Degree / NQF level 7, Diploma warehousing and distribution CIPS, CSCP
• Experience in a similar role: Up to 3 years

Duties & Responsibilities

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse team of warehouse professionals.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize operations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Experience working in an international or multi-national warehouse environment is highly desirable.

Standardization Of Warehouses And Stores

 

• Develop and implement standardized warehouse and store processes, including Bin location management, receiving, storage, picking, packing, and distribution.
• Establish and enforce uniform operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency across all warehouse and store locations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance with organizational standards and industry regulations.
• Bin location standardization and rationalization in line with SKU management from category and procurement teams.

Stock Management Processes

 

• Oversee all aspects of stock management, from receipt of goods to issuance and repurposing.
• Implement robust inventory control measures to minimize stock variances and ensure accurate stock levels across all warehouses and stores.
• Lead initiatives for stock repurposing, optimizing inventory utilization, and minimizing excess or obsolete stock.

Management Of Store Controllers

• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of store controllers responsible for day-to-day operations at each warehouse and store location.
• Provide leadership and direction to store controllers, setting clear performance objectives and KPIs.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
