ROLE PURPOSE:

To identify, manage and develop the Retail business, physical, agent and virtual channels for the Region with a view to achieving consistent revenue growth, shipment and weight progress, with continuous expansion of footprint. The role is responsible for the effective management of the following:  DHL Owned Service Points, Omni Channels & 3RD Party PUDO facilities.

YOUR TASKS:

Customer Functional Roles: Internal

  • Cooperate with all internal departments such as Customer Services and Operations to ensure that all service needs and problems of Service points are resolved in a timely manner and are not repeated in order to improve the business processes.
  • Conduct regular visits to all service points to ensure compliance in all aspects.
  • Liaise with Customer Service on the quality measurement and standards maintained in all service points.
  • Conduct regular analysis and review of the business in order to consistently have a good understanding of where the business is at and what the opportunities are for development.
  • Suggest and implement creative and impactful suggestions / promotions to grow the retail channel business.
  • Drive the use of technology and Ecom solutions in all sectors within the retail channel.
  • Ensure W.C.C are in place in every country.

Stakeholder Functional Roles: External

  • Identify, Manage and further develop the retail service points and retail business.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities within existing customers in the promotion of DHL Value Added Services (VAS).
  • Support the DHL Loyalty Scheme through the promotion of the DHL Loyalty Cards to regular cash shippers   to stimulate increased volumes.
  • Educate potential partners about DHL products and services in order to sign up new partners.
  • Exploit all opportunities arising from DHL promotions to boost volumes and attract new customers.
  • Conduct regular visits to all SPs s, growing and improving the relationship as well as auditing branding, customer service etc.
  • Ensure conformance to DHL policies and Procedures as well as the commercial guidelines.

Market Intelligence:

  • Obtain competitor footprint in the various countries – specific locations.
  • Research the retail market, growth, consumer behavior and the split between structured and informal share.
  • Gather all Retail hotspot/ or location information in the various countries.
  • Determining where DHL needs to have a presence and determining the type of presence i.e. Owned stores, structured retail partners.
  • Gather info on all the competitor product offerings and promotions.
  • Set up a mystery shopper programme for the retail outlets incl competitors.
  • Ensure all DHL retail performance, any market changes, promotions, competitor activity is reported each month by each country.
  • Identify all suitable retail partners for both structured and informal sectors for a robust expansion programme.
  • Deliverables.
  • Clear detailed “map” of DHL and Competitor retail outlets and product offering.
  • Clear understanding of where DHL retail outlets should be located.
  • Clear target retail partners.
  • Clear understanding of DHL and competitor service levels via mystery shopper.
  • Monthly report submitted by 8th of the following month.

Branding:

  • Ensure all marketing materials align to the guidelines (this also includes having a good knowledge of the guidelines and understanding what does/doesn’t conform).
  • Ensure all branding in countries conforms to guidelines and, if not, assist countries to get in line.
  • Assist with information regarding ideal “look and feel” of the various retail outlets and implementing the approved ones accordingly.
  • Auditing the outlets and ensuring that the DHL image is at the standard that it should be and wherever gaps are found to immediately order / put up the necessary branding.
  • Manage the branding material stocks for all the countries so as to ensure that there is stock on hand at all times and present on every visit to the outlets – so immediate implementation can take place if required (management right from procurement to maintenance).
  • Implementation of all Point-of-Sale Materials and ensuring relevance to current promotions.
  • Assist with the Creation and Implementation of the Golden Store program.
  • Deliverables.
  • All outlet branding in line with guidelines for that particular type of outlet.
  • All marketing materials conforms to guidelines.
  • All outlets audited once a quarter and all branding constantly looking good and “fresh”.
  • Reduced risk of “Brand Contamination” from poorly managed branding by the outlets and partners.

Promotions:

  • Manage any retail campaigns for the Region or global.
  • If identified, manage promotions and campaigns on the ground i.e. ensure materials and giveaways are in order, branding is correct, staff are briefed, PR and advertising is prepared and distributed.
  • Tight control of the giveaways per outlet / campaign / promotion – from procurement to distribution
  • Management and drive Loyalty Campaign.
  • Implementation of Internal Competitions / campaigns to ensure that it is driven and kept alive.
  • Auditing the country links to the microsites / dhl.com etc and ensuring all in working order and relevant to current promotion.
  • Management and monitoring of all social media sites/ interaction for the countries.
  • Ensuring the continual connection to both our customers and our staff through the element of “fun” and relevance.
  • Deliverables.
  • Ensure all promotions and campaigns are executed successfully.
  • Ensuring good market awareness of all campaigns and promotions run by DHL.
  • Well supported and active Loyalty campaign that is utilized by our customers.
  • Motivated incentivized internal staff and partners.
  • Well managed DHL image in the world of social media.

Advertising:

  • Manage any advertising opportunities for the retail sector.
  • Manage any requests for adaptations and local artwork.
  • Provide well thought out ideas for the development of the retail business via promotions, campaigns.
  • Ensure successful implementation of all campaigns and promotions within markets.
  • Ensure adequate levels of giveaways and marcomms materials are available in countries and, if not available, assist in acquiring or requesting these.
  • Work with other units (Pricing, Sales) to ensure successful implementation of all campaigns and opportunities.
  • Deliverables.
  • One advertising campaign or initiative executed in every market every 3 months.
  • Sufficient giveaways provided to countries.

Desired Skills and Experience

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Commercial/Sales/Retail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related fields.
  • Fluent in written and spoken in both English & Arabic
  • Software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Sales qualification
