Job description
Position: Himalayan Farm Stay Manager
Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL) is an upcoming Alternative Institute for Mountain Development that follows Contextual Learning and Experiential Pedagogy where students learn by doing and earn while they learn. It aims to develop Ladakh into a benchmark of sustainable living for the mountain world, where all children receive a meaningful education that prepares them for a life of dignity in harmony with nature. As a live lab to the school of responsible tourism, we are nurturing farm stays to support the local economy by empowering the villagers of Ladakh while providing an authentic experience to the tourists and enabling the students to learn the basics of hospitality while working with the local communities.
This role will involve much fieldwork, traveling to different villages, taking part in trekking, hiking, village walks,etc.

Responsibilities:
1.Complete operations of Himalayan Farmstay enterprise.
2.Development of strategies, packages and implementing them with Operations related to tourism expansion apart from Farmstays.
3.Knowledge of booking platforms AirBnB, MakeMyTrip, etc.
4.Handling booking, taxation/GST related matters, responding to queries, resolving grievances, handle complaints/ cancellations/refunds,etc
5.Coordinating with village mothers for booking, services, payment related matters
6.Onboarding of new farmstays, including selection, feasibility check, contract signing, orientation, etc.
7.Expansion of farmstay network to other villages.
8.Farmstay marketing / promotion activities- Branding, content drafting, event management
9.Building and maintaining relations with village mothers, outside travel agents, local travel agents, tour operators, taxi operators, taxi and bike unions, UT govt. ,etc for all tourism requirements.
10.Design experiences, itineraries, and tour packages specific to each village and farmstays
11.Manage interns, intern training, delegate work and handhold them to work on ground as per task assigned
12.Prepare budgeting, collating financial spread sheets and submitting to management in coordination with accounts department.

14.Execution of strategic planning to attract more visitors to villages.
15.Design course curriculum, facilitate classes/courses of the School of Responsible Tourism.
Mandatory Background:
1.Graduate in any stream
2.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
3.Results orientated
4.High standards of customer service
5.Ability to create and manage sales strategies, promotions etc
6.Strong organisational skills

Preferred Educational Background:
1.Bachelors from Tourism
2.Diploma or certificate in Travel and Tourism
Preferred Work Experience:
1.Minimum 5 years of work experience in same field
2.Proven track record that can be measured with reviews of clients
Location: Phyang, Ladakh
Compensation: As per Industry and region standards. It will be an incentive linked model.
