Overview

WADI for Sustainable Ecosystems Development is a National NGO established in 2018. The vision of WADI is to become a “regional center of excellence in ecosystems restoration,” and its mission is the sustainable production of high-quality native seedlings for active ecological restoration through community engagement, outreach, and knowledge sharing.”

Job Summary:

The Junior Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting the organization’s overall financial management by applying high standards in financial practices and internal control. The Junior Accountant will work closely with the Supervisor and will ensure accurate and timely financial record-keeping.

  • Adhere to the Organization’s overall policies and procedures.
  • Maintain separate financial records for the NGO and its individual projects.
  • Prepare invoices, expenses, and transactions following established guidelines.
  • Prepare all kinds of payment vouchers, receipts, and accounting transactions as per WADI’s Financial management policies.
  • Assist in preparing payroll records and sending pay slips to personnel on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that financial forms (expense claims, vouchers, receipt logs etc.…) are updated on a regular basis.
  • Efficiently manage car logs to optimize vehicle usage.
  • Coordinate with and contact different stakeholders such as partners, donors, suppliers, and banks.
  • Prepare petty cash replenishment on a regular basis.
  • Enter daily accounting transactions on the accounting software while making sure that costs are allocated adequately as per WADI’s cost policy statement.
  • Ensure that all accounting documents are properly presented to the Supervisor, archived, and follow a clear audit trail.
  • Assist the Supervisor in creating routine financial statements.
  • Assist in preparing precise financial reports for donors and different stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing the end-of-month reconciliation and weekly financial updates and reports.
  • Provide documentation and support for annual audits.
  • Track assets, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other closing entries correctly and input them in the accounting system monthly.
  • Keep the Supervisor updated on project finances.
  • Conduct periodic bank runs to finalize banking transactions.
  • Undertake any additional activities assigned by the supervisor to support organization objectives.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in accounting, finance, and bookkeeping, preferably within an NGO or project-based setting.
  • Proficient in accounting software particularly QuickBooks and Microsoft Office suite, including Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles and practices, including IFRS or relevant local standards.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, ethics, and discretion.
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Capable of independent work and effective team collaboration.
  • Understanding donor-funded projects and reporting requirements is advantageous.
